The Thompson Free Library is pleased to partner with the Center Theatre and Foxcroft Academy on a project supported by a grant from the Maine Humanities Council’s initiative “Democracy, Journalism, and the Informed Citizen”: https://observer-me.com/2019/01/10/all-the-presidents-men-free-showing-feb-13-at-center-theatre/
As part of this project, the library is distributing copies of Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward’s book “All the President’s Men” and inviting community members to attend two events:
  • Thursday, February 7 at 5:30 pm: Bangor Daily News reporter Callie Ferguson will facilitate a discussion at the library on “All the President’s Men,” the news media, and investigative journalism.
  • Wednesday, February 13 at 5:30 pm: Participants will join Foxcroft Academy students for food and conversation at the Center Theatre, followed by a free showing of the classic movie “All the President’s Men” at 7:00 pm.

Are you interested in taking free classes to improve your computer skills? Available classes include: Basic Computer, Windows 7 & 10, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, Powerpoint, Quickbooks, Social Media, Google, WordPress, and Photoshop.

The AmeriCorps Digital Inclusion Initiative is a program of the National Digital Equity Center committed to closing the digital divide in rural Maine. Their trained Digital Literacy Instructors will be providing classes at the Thompson Free Library and other sites in our region.

The Thompson Free Library is partnering with Pine Tree Hospice to offer a book group for caregivers and the people who support them. The Caregivers Book Group will meet four Monday afternoons at the library from 3:30-5:00 pm: February 4, March 4, April 8, and May 6. This book group is sponsored by the Maine Humanities Council and facilitated by Greg Winston, Professor of English at Husson University.

Readings include:
