The National Digital Equity Center will offer free digital literacy classes at the Thompson Free Library every Wednesday in August from 10-11:30 am. Sign up to participate at:

  • Aug. 7: Connecting through Basic Technology. In this introduction to computers and devices, learn about desktops, laptops, tablets, Kindles, and smartphones.
  • Aug. 14: Protecting your Digital Presence. Learn how to protect your online presence, and how to identify fraud and scams.
  • Aug. 21: Using Technology for Better Health. Find out more about software apps and devices, such as FitBits, that can help you to monitor your health.
  • Aug. 28: Getting What you Need Online. Learn how to stay connected and engaged through social media.

The National Digital Equity Center is pleased to offer a FREE Aging Well with Technology workshop to the residents of Dover-Foxcroft. The Maine Digital Inclusion Initiative is a program of the National Digital Equity Center committed to closing the digital divide in rural Maine. Our AmeriCorps Members are trained Digital Literacy Instructors who will be providing a FREE Aging Well with Technology workshop at the Thompson Free Library on 7/9/19 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

This initiative aims to bring ring digital literacy all around Penobscot and Piscataquis Counties. We will cover the upcoming classes that will be offered to help grow your computer and digital literacy skills. Bring your questions, tell your friends and family!

Join us for our next “Monthly Make” event with STEM guide Alicia Millette. This month, teens learn about chemistry while making bath bombs, lip balm, and face scrub. Take home your creations!

We’re excited to host a new monthly maker program at the library, led by STEM guide Alicia Millette! Each month will feature a fun project for a different age group.

This month – learn about simple circuits while making a small flashlight.

Who: Students in grades 4-8.

When: Tuesday, December 27 at 11:00 a.m.

This free STEM project is a great way to learn how electrical devices can be turned on and off. Each participant will make and take home their very own flashlight!
